Britomart

I had been asked a few weeks ago to detail a locomotive for a co-worker’s son. This was a PDF Models Quarry Hunslet kit that has been been built as Pen yr Orsedd Quarry HE707 of 1899 “Britomart”. The loco had already been built to a good standard and I had been asked if I could add the handrail and Britomart’s distinctive toolbox.

Since I work at Boston Lodge, it was easy for me to get photos and measurements that I could work off. The toolbox was drawn up on Solidworks and 3D printed on the new Anycubic Photon Mono and handrail knobs were ordered from Cornwall Model Boats.

Some 1mm brass rod was then bent and fitted through the handrails. Once I was happy with it all mocked up, The parts were painted and permanently fitted to the loco.

The image below shows the finished product. I’m quite pleased with it.
